CPU Dossier is a freeware utility that shows you relatively detailed information on your PC's CPU. All the data are gathered using the CPUID instruction, i.e. they are collected via the most simple and safe method, without MSR and other sophisticated techniques. This was done deliberately in order to be as neutral to the processors from different vendors as possible. For this same purpose, the program, unlike some of the other ones, does not comprise any internal CPU databases. In other words, you will find in my program no checks for a particular vendor.
Like any other program, CPU Dossier has its own advantages and disadvantages. The advantages, I think, are the fairly detailed information about the cores, cache, and TLB (the "Identification" and "Cache & TLB" tabs), feature flags (the "Flags" and "Miscellaneous" tabs), the degree of the XSAVE instruction support (the "Identification" tab), as well as quite exotic opportunity to "talk" with your CPU (the "Identification" tab), "asking" him a question in the form of CPUID instruction registers, in order to find out, for example, a data on CPUID branch which my program does not yet support, or to find, for example, a hidden message from the developers of the processor.
Someone would say that CPU Dossier does not show core & bus frequency, does not identify the CPU's die, its microarchitecture, size, lithography, the number of transistors, socket, TDP, and something else. Some of these data can be extracted using only CPUID, for the rest I'll have to dig deeper. I can do it all, but at this moment, I don't consider it necessary. If you disagree with me, then please let me know about it. It is also possible that the program still has an errors that I've missed out during the testing. If you find them, then please let me know about them, too. The same goes for any of your other suggestions - e-mail me (av_khoshenko at mail dot ru), and I'll will see :) .
